Mrs. McGrath
While we read Kevin Henkes, Chrysanthemum we discussed what makes us BLOOM, and what makes us WILT. Mrs. Mcgrath's class worked together to share feelings, show what makes us bloom, and do away with what makes us wilt.

Our little fishes are loving our lessons at the YMCA. Check with your child's teacher for lesson times if you'll like to come watch. xo- Miss Martin Our kids never miss an opportunity to create! Here are some of our second grade boys creating a habitat for bugs. xo- Miss Martin Here are a few more pictures from our Friday with Master Naturalist, Mrs. Greenleaf. You will see pictures from a sensory table and of the kids making sound maps. Our artists are always hard at work, employing all of their senses to plug into their worlds! xo- Miss Martin This Friday we were lucky enough to learn from our very own master naturalist. Students got to use their senses to discover the beautiful environment right around us. We learned about native frogs (perfect for our lifecycle unit!!) and even took 5 whole minutes in silence to create sound maps. Thank you for everything you do Mrs.Greenleaf!! xo-- Mrs.McGrath On Thursday I heard one of the best things a teacher can head-- "I've never had this much fun doing sentences!" Our second grade team works hard to plan engaging lessons to keep our students moving and learning. Today in our complete/incomlete sentence study we put mixed up sentences into complete sentences & wrote them in our language arts interactive journal. Happy Friday :) xo Mrs. McGrath On Wednesday we harvested our first crops out of our Three Sisters History Garden! We can't wait to enjoy it in our stew tomorrow. Thanks parents :) With spring weather finally here we had a great time creating these beautiful spring time butterflies! We are deep in our study of life cycles, and finishing up our geometry-- so what better than symmetry butterflies? Nothing, I'd say!! We used a glue &I black paint mixture to create a stained glass look- and the next day added water colors! Today we also compared & contrasted the life cycle of a butterfly, frog, and white-tailed deer. We used our best thinking brains to discuss the differences-- while all being a never ending cycle! We read (well watched someone read-- I could not find this book anywhere!!) Chester the Worldly Pig, a story about a pig who travels and ends up with mud stains shaped as the continents and oceans!! Tomorrow we will create our own Chester world maps, for our geography unit! Enjoy the pictures! Xo- Mrs. McGrath Today we continued our study of double digit subtraction. We used dice and spinners to create numbers to put in problems. I got the spinners at the dollar tree, they're a great way to practice-- without just doing worksheets! Enjoy :) xo-- Mrs. McGrath This week is DR. SEUSS week!! Please let me know if you would like to come read your favorite story to the class!
